Battery or
no battery?

Storage · 5 min read · By the Lumenbeam energy team

Storage is the most oversold — and most underrated — part of solar. Three questions settle it.

1. How much do outages cost you?

Lost freezer food, missed work calls, medical devices, sump pumps: if outages are expensive or frightening, a battery is insurance that also saves daily. If the grid is rock-solid and nothing critical depends on it, the case weakens.

2. Does your utility punish evenings?

Time-of-use rates that spike at dinner make batteries earn daily: store cheap noon power, spend it at 7 p.m. Flat-rate utilities blunt this benefit — though outage protection alone still convinces many owners.

3. Can you start small?

Yes. A single battery backing essential circuits beats nothing, and battery-ready hybrid inverters make expansion a one-day job. We size for critical loads first, whole-home second.
