Agricultural rooftop + ground mount · Yamhill County, OR · Built around milking schedules

Ground-mounted solar rows beside pasture
Overview

Milking parlors on sunshine.

A third-generation dairy needed relief from refrigeration and irrigation costs — but panel glare near the milking barn and dust from farm roads ruled out a standard layout. We split the system: barn rooftops for the dairy load, pasture ground-mounts for irrigation.

The challenge: dust, livestock, and 4 a.m. milking shifts. Our approach: elevated ground mounts above grazing height, anti-soiling panel coating, and construction sequenced between milkings so the herd never noticed.

Outcome

Farm-tough and paying back.

Cooling covered

Milk cooling — the farm's biggest load — now runs largely on midday solar, straight off the barn roof.

Irrigation independence

Pasture pumps run from the ground-mount field, cutting diesel backup use to rare emergencies.

Built for farm life

Elevated steel, sealed electronics, and a maintenance plan timed to the off-season.
